During late December, His Grace, Bishop Alexei went to the Carolina Deanery of the Orthodox Church in America in order to raise awareness on the needs of the oldest and most revered Diocese in North America. The primary purpose of trip was to encourage support for the Clergy Stipend Fund. On December 11th, His Grace served a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at Saint Basil’s Church in Wilmington, North Carolina in which he spoke about the importance of stewardship. At the reception following, he spoke about the history of our diocese and present challenges for the faithful and clergy. His grace then spoke to the clergy of the deanery for three consecutive days about psychology, theology, and the prophet Isaiah. On December 14th, Vladyka made another presentation on Alaska at Holy Ascension Church in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, followed by a hierarchical Divine Liturgy on the following day. On December 15th, His Grace provided the presentation at Holy Apostles in West Columbia, South Carolina, followed by a hierarchical Divine Liturgy on the following day. On December 16th, His Grace provided a presentation at the Nativity of the Theotokos in Charlotte, North Carolina. Vladyka completed his tour of the Carolinas at Saint John of the Ladder in Greenville where he again made a presentation on Alaska, answered questions at a town hall meeting, and celebrated two hierarchical Divine Liturgies, ordaining Deacon David Galloway to the Holy Priesthood.
