This year’s theme was the Saints of Alaska. The youth, ages 4-14, spent each day engaging in activities that taught them the lives of Saints Innocent, Herman, Juvenaly, Yakov, Mat. Olga, and Peter the Aleut.
These activities included drawing pictures of the Saints’ icons, learning their troparia, and studying their lives. They explored how they might imitate the Saints today and practiced having missionary conversations. The youth also enjoyed playing games together and making new friends.
On the last day, they shared what they learned
with their parents. Standing with the icons they had drawn and painted, they read portions of each Saints’ life and sang their troparia.
Father Peter Tobias, Rector of Holy Assumption parish said, “There’s much work to do to combat the demonic and secular bombardments our children face every day. By God’s grace, our little camp provided our youth and their friends an opportunity to learn about the love of God in Christ and living holy lives in the fallen world.”
